Inside Social Games - Rave Reviews

insidesocialgames-header

The interconnection between all four games truly adds a fantastic level of depth to the package as a whole...

A leading industry trade journal has taken notice of Avastar and Hollywood Tycoon, two of our first applications in the Social Game Universe. We were delighted to note that they found the connection between our apps organically. Their review was overwhelmingly positive and in fact the first review lead them to review the other application with increasing enthusiasm for the way we interconnect our players. Check out the articles below:

Hollywood Tycoon has boasted claims that it is “one of the best casual tycoon games available.” Tall order, but hold on to your hats, because with it now on Facebook, it more than deserves the praise it gets.

"Hollywood Tycoons are Made in Canada", Inside Social Games - December 17, 2009:

Avastar: ...yet another fantastic addition to Avastar... [it] is connected with the app Hollywood Tycoon, allowing users to act in other players’ movies.Overall, the entire set of games comes highly recommended.

"Claw up the Social Ladder in Avastar", Inside Social Games - December 17, 2009:

bio2007-320hHello, I'm Nathon - welcome to our little corner of the Social Game Universe. We believe that social games represent an opportunity to do the extraordinary. New kinds of play that arise from our relationships, new ways to move people that emerge when we share values, maybe even the opportunity to change the world a little bit.

We're a creative bunch on a mission to make an inclusive system that will enable truly social play for everyone - developers and players alike. As we start a brand new year - a big one for us as a company - we're thinking about a bunch of things.

As we think about those things - we're planning to join the conversation and when we can't find  the answers we're going to ask the questions.  We want to start some regular discussions on the topics that have been on our mind. Come make some noise with us and let's see if this year can be more than just more of the same. The list below is just a start, but we think it's rich with possibilities. Let us know if any of these topic areas are of particular interest to you and whether you'd like to participate in our dialogues and exchanges. If you think there are some great resources and information concerning these points, please point us to them - we want to help spread the word.
  • Can social games make a difference in people's lives? Can they be used to change perceptions?
  • Can unrelated games be interconnected and share objects and material in meaningful ways?
  • Are the well-resourced industry leaders hurting innovation?
  • Are developers better off flying solo, or is there a feasible, mutually beneficial alliance that would help everyone?
  • Can we compete and still share resources? What would a federated currency look like? What are the issues?
  • Is user-generated content "within the game" or the games themselves?
  • What about creating a language for game design? Can we create a grammar that lets everyone invent games?
  • Will we kill ourselves with copies or invent ourselves out of the clone wars?
  • Can casual games be made social? Is there a general solution or only specific ones?
  • Will this be the year of big brands and famous IP entering the social game space? Will it be creative or deadening?
  • Will this be the year that games overflow Facebook and other platforms get the same level of focus?
  • What are the big issues facing you?
